Glen Allen Vogt, age 83, of Brainerd passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Paul Strommer for Glen on Tuesday, August 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be on Monday, August 27 from 5-7 p.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to Mass at the church. Glen will be inurned with military honors at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery at noon on Thursday, August 30. Glen was born on July 26, 1935 in Brainerd, to Robert and Helen (Schutey) Vogt. He grew up and attended school in Brainerd, graduating from Washington High School in 1954. On July 26, 1958 he was united in marriage to Virginia Thiede, in Motley. He worked at Potlatch, retiring at age 68 in 2003. After being "retired" for a short 3 months, Glen began working for Granite City Armored Car Company, where he stayed for the next 13 years. Virginia, his beloved wife of 53 years, passed away on February 27, 2011. Glen enjoyed hunting and camping, and playing cards and Bingo. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Glen will be remembered and missed by many, including his children: Anna Vogt of Brainerd, Donna Mulholland of Baxter, John (Renae) Vogt of Brainerd, Jeff (Diane) Vogt of Brainerd, Jill (John) Johnson of Carver, Minn., Sherry Vogt of Bainerd and Paula (Kelly) Kohl of Brainerd; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Betty (Bill) Pajari of Oregon, Gert Rohloff of Baxter, Duane (Barb) Vogt of Michigan, Darrell (Janice) Vogt of Brainerd; a brother-in-law, Robert (Elena) Thiede of Motley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; his wife Virginia; two sisters; and three brothers.
